The handlebars of my bicycle. Garmin E-Trex GPS and Kenwood TH-D7A(G) APRS transceiver. On the way to the cabin I beaconed as KB0THN-4. Absent from the picture is the normal bicycle computer that got ripped off during transport.

The roads were crystal clear but there was a lot of snow everywhere else. The snow was about a foot norminally, but there were many 6 foot drifts.

There was only about a foot of snow at the lake side of the driveway. In the woods there was a lot more - at least four feet in many places.

The deep cycle battery was the problem. The terminal voltage on it was 1.28 volts. I connected the cordless drill battery in its place and immediately everything powered up. The station didn't start transmitting right away because the KPC-3 lost all of its settings.

Looking into the weather station enclsoure. On the top left is the datalogger (exposed circuit board), below that the APRS weather station, and at the bottom is the KPC-3. The device on the right is the FT-1500M transceiver.

I tested using the SeriaLan modem for downloading the datalogger. I hoped that the signal would reach into one of the cabins so I could get out of the wind. Unfortunately the signal only made it as far as Jeff's truck and even then I had to turn the laptop sideways to get decent signal strength. With external antennas it should work fine in the future.

A view of the anemometer from on top of the water tower. Surprisingly the schedule 80 PVC has held up with minimal distortion. It has definitely a good cheap ($8) way of putting up an anemometer.

One of many self portrait attempts. If I had used the flash to fill in my face it might have been a much better photo.

The last traces of sunset captured with a f/2.0 and 1 second expsoure. I love being able to do manual settings on my camera.

A bunch of deer were in the yard around the white cabin eating the raspberry bushes underneath.

Besides dozens of deer I saw a immature fox, bear, and a number of bald eagles.
