The rover in front of wind generators by Pipestone, MN. You can see the antenna array and my really cool rover rack.

I fabricated the rover rack out of Uni-Strut and SuperStrut material. There is a CDR rotor mounted to a custom plate and then on the upper cross brace there is a Yaesu thrust bearing a custom plate. The mast is 10' of 1 1/4" EMT conduit. The rack was rock solid even at 70+ MPH. My friend Jason Tracy helped me paint it black.

Seeing the wind farm up close was really interesting. We were able to peak inside this wind generator because they were doing repairs on it. The scale of these machines is gigantic. The base is probably about 16 or 20 feet across. Even with massive blades generating hundreds of kilowatts of electricty the blades make less noise than the wind.

Tilt-over base for monitoring tower. The tower was at least 100' and appeared to be 4 inch pipe at the base.
